HOW I DEVELOPED A LOVE OF HELPING YOU TELL YOUR STORY
I'm a wife, mother, pet and nature lover. This is one of my favorite portraits of me, my wonderful husband and my boys, hiking in New Hampshire's White Mountains back in 2003. What would I do without it? None of us look like that any more!
As a teenager I'd photograph all the fantastic moments on my family's summer vacations so I could relive them over and over once we returned home. It's no wonder I love helping others preserve their own memories with the love of family.
We all need these visual photographic memories more than we realize in the moment. For me they show:
- that life is not a destination, but a journey
- that family portraits play a big role in preserving these memories, telling the story of our lives throughout the years
My boys are now young adults, far from the days of leaving their toys scattered around. This drove me crazy at the time, but now I miss those days. Now I focus on capturing the phases as they move on to their next exciting chapter! They won’t always be available to go on family vacations. They're discovering their own independent lives (grab the tissues!). It seems to take a milestone to make us stop and realize that the stage we’re in now isn’t forever.
Do you have a piece of art that perfectly captures your pet's personality?
These are my sweeties. They are my 12th and 13th feline fur babies. I've also had the pleasure of fostering almost 2 dozen more cats and kittens.
My sincere message to pet parents is to capture your beloved pets when they are happy, healthy and spry. Too often people wait too long, or don't capture them at all. The true value of a portrait is realized to its fullest when it's all you have left.
From decades of experience I know that their time with us is far too short, their love endless, unconditional, and their personalities all individually unique. Your pet wants to be photographed, to be remembered, to "stay with you forever." Without portraits to have once it's their time, the void would feel endless.
With over 30 years of experience with cats and dogs, including years as VP of a feline rescue league, I can guide you every step of the way to preserve your fur baby in an artful pet portrait you will have to treasure.
