HOW I DEVELOPED A LOVE OF HELPING YOU TELL YOUR STORY

Portraits connect us to the past and help us relive moments...like this favorite portrait of me, my wonderful husband and my boys, hiking in New Hampshire's White Mountains back in 2003.

Just one glance brings back a rush of memories and emotion. My boys are far from that small now and I'm so grateful to have this picture to look back on!

My love of photography began well before that, though. As a teenager I'd photograph all the fantastic moments on my family's summer vacations so I could relive them over and over once we returned home. It's no wonder I love helping others preserve their own memories with the love of family.

With my ever-growing boys and three cats (currently), I, like you, need these visual photographic memories. They show me that it's important to:

  • capture them now;
  • that life is not a destination, but a journey, and
  • that family portraits play a big role in preserving these memories, telling the story of our lives throughout the years.

Now that my boys are young adults, I realize first hand that our kids won’t always be in the house, leaving their socks and dirty dishes scattered around. These are the things that drive us crazy in the moment, and that we miss the most when it comes time to reflect as they move on to their next exciting chapter! They won’t always be available to go on family vacations. They're discovering their own independent lives (grab the tissues!). It seems to take a milestone to make us stop and realize that the stage we’re in now isn’t forever.

When it comes to pets? Well, for the endless and unconditional love and companionship they give us, their time with us is far too short, plain and simple. Your pet wants to be photographed, to be remembered, to "stay with us forever."

These are my sweeties. Being the crazy cat lady, I've foster a number of cats and have had 14 of my own. Each time I loose one of my fur babies, the change is so difficult that it takes my breath away. They deserve to be preserved in an artful pet portrait to remember them by.

My sincere message to others is to capture their beloved pets when they are happy, healthy and spry. Too often people wait too long, or don't capture them at all. The true value of a portrait is realized to its fullest when it's all you have left.

Fueled by my own experiences, lessons, observations, and heartaches, making a difference for others holds immense meaning. I believe that every single person and pet has a story to tell. For the sake of those they’ve touched, that story deserves to be captured so that once time marches on from this moment right now, their people will have something priceless to look back on and relive the wonderful memories; memories waiting to release all the heartwarming feelings those moments held.
