Background/Experience
Did you ever stop and say "now where are my keys", only to look down and find they were right beside you the whole time? Well Jean's missing item was "what kind of work do I want to do". For years she contemplated this question only to find that what she thought was just a hobby all along, turned out to be her passion - photography! Although her photography always brought a sense of peace and joy, practicality can sometimes mask what truly makes us happy. For Jean, photography was her overlooked "set of keys"!
She owes this discovery in part to her children. It was upon their birth that she turned her eye from over 15 years of photographing the landscape to photographing children. Now with over 25 years of experience behind the camera, and studies in portraiture, she's realized how quickly children change and grow, and how important it is to capture people, families, and relationships!
It is Jean’s love of the outdoors that originally directed her to landscape and nature photography. It’s no surprise, then, that she incorporates this natural inspiration as much as possible into her portraits, specializing in natural light and outdoor settings. A photograph should not be just a documentary, but a message that speaks through expression, emotion, and personality. It is in these outdoor settings that Jean feels her subjects tend to be more relaxed, allowing her message of photography and the true spirit of the subject(s) to shine through.
Jean is an award winning photographer. She is presently 2nd Vice President of the New Hampshire Professional Photographer’s Association, has attended multiple years of course study through the New England Institute of Professional Photography, and holds a Certificate in Photography from the New Hampshire Institute of Art. She and her family enjoy exploring the beauty of the outdoors, especially in New Hampshire’s White Mountain region.
Don't just settle for a "picture" of your family or family members. Create lasting portrait memories through photographic images that will be cherished for years to come!
